Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach
April 25th, 2015

For most people, their idea of a good vacation is to stay in a nice hotel-resort that is located right in front of a beautiful powdery white sand beach. If this is what you want, then your best bet is to stay at any of the beachfront resorts in Carolina Beach.

Carolina Beach, also known as Balneario de Carolina, is a clean beach and it’s quite long with white sand, warm water, umbrellas and all the essential facilities. That’s because balnearios are government-managed beaches and they are well maintained with clean restrooms, life guards on duty, a fenced parking lot and other amenities that will help make your day at the beach more comfortable and enjoyable.

A Brief Overview

Carolina Beach is located just outside of San Juan and is part of the bigger Isla Verde Beach. It has a long stretch of sand so there is room for everyone to relax and enjoy the surroundings. However, during peak season (December to April), it may be best to go there early in the morning or a bit late in the afternoon to avoid the crowd. You see, the beach is one of the ports of call of cruise ships so expect to have lots of sunbathers during the day.

Tips to Remember

If you’re planning to spend the day at the beach, you don’t need to worry about what to bring. There are many vendors and rental shops in the area. You can easily rent water sports equipment and you can buy refreshments anytime.

But be extra careful about bringing your own beer or soda because according to one TripAdvisor reviewer, you could get a ticket if you bring glass bottles.

This beach is also close to the Luis Munoz Marin International airport (you could say it’s right in its backyard) so expect to hear some loud noises from airplanes landing or taking off.

Is It Worth Visiting?

Although a lot of tourists have discovered just how beautiful Carolina Beach is, admittedly, it is more popular to locals. But it won’t stay that way for long though, as any recent visitor would tell you that more and more people are hanging out and spending their afternoons here. There is also a lot of night life in the area and you’re guaranteed to have lots of fun.

But even if you don’t appreciate night life very much, you will enjoy the warm and clear waters. You could go swimming all day and never get tired of it. In fact, many reviewers have talked about how they never wanted to get out of the water.

Walks along the beach is also a great activity. The sand is soft and gorgeous, and there are plenty of sea shells to keep the young ones preoccupied. The beach umbrellas and palm trees also ensure that you can always sit down and relax any time.

If you’re wondering if Carolina Beach is worth visiting, it most definitely is. It’s just a short drive from San Juan and it’s open from Tuesday through Sunday from 8AM to 5PM.
