Places To Visit In Puerto Rico

Hacienda Campo Rico

Hacienda Campo Rico
April 25th, 2015

Looking for adventure in Puerto Rico? The next time you’re in San Juan, check out Hacienda Campo Rico. It’s a 2,200 acre ranch where you can try out the trail rides and zip lines. You can do so many things here and a visit to this place will certainly give you an adrenaline rush.

What to Do

At Hacienda Campo Rico, you can see the Puerto Rican countryside and immerse yourself in the El Yunque rainforest. When you arrive, get on the saddle and gallop your way around the camp. Even if you have no prior experience in horseback riding, you have nothing to worry about. They have guides that will teach you how and they will also match you with the right horse, based on your experience level. Explore mangroves and the rainforest with your high spirited but very gentle horse as you go through 2,000 acres of land.

You can also go for something even more challenging – an ATV tour. You can choose between a buggy or an ATV and prepare yourself for one rough and exhilarating ride climbing hills and zooming around lakes. By the end of your ride, you’ll be covered in mud!

But the adventure is not over yet! There’s still the highly popular ziplining activity at Hacienda Campo Rico. You will begin with a short hike to the Karst mountains until you get to the launch tower. The staff will secure you with a double harness and once you’re all set, you will slide down a 1,000 foot line at a height of 200 feet. You will soar above Puerto Rico and go past lakes and trees, until you stop at Mojito’s where you can have a cool and refreshing drink to end your adventure-filled day.

Some Info to Keep in Mind

A day at Hacienda Campo Rico is always full of fun and excitement and you can go there with friends, family or by yourself, and still be assured of a grand time. But to make it more enjoyable, remember to bring water during the tour especially for your ATV adventure. As mentioned earlier, you will get muddy so make sure to bring extra clothes so you can change right after. Bring sunglasses or goggles too so your eyes will be protected from the mud and dirt. They have an area where you can keep your purse, towels and other personal belongings.

The cost of an ATV ride is $45 for riders and $75 for drivers and each vehicle can hold 2 people and the tours last for 2 hours. The tours are available at 9AM, 12PM and 3PM. Reservations are needed so make sure to call them ahead of time.

Getting There

To get to Hacienda Campo Rico, take Route 26 until you reach Campo Rico Avenue, then head north until the end of the street. Across the street you will notice a chain-link gate, just tell the guard where you are going and then follow the arrows until you get to their office. You can also arrange for pickup from your hotel in San Juan.
