If you are looking to take a vacation in a beautiful place, look no further than Puerto Rico, especially if you are a big sports fan. Puerto Rico actually has a very rich sports culture, so if you are the sporty type there is definitely a lot to do.

A great place to start your Puerto Rico vacation as a sports fan is the Hiram Birthorn stadium which is conveniently located in Hato Rey in San Juan. It is well known for a variety of sports played there, including the Carribean Series where teams from other countries all come to compete. Here is a brief video of the stadium.

If you are a big tennis fan, Puerto Rico sports some of the best tennis courts around. With over 100 tennis courts available near or in the larger hotels, if you are a big tennis buff you should have no problem finding a court to play on. If you are looking for public courts, check out San Juan’s Central Park where there are 17 available to play on. They are open daily and are a great way to get some exercise and fun in the sun while on vacation.

Aside from great tennis, Puerto Rico offers some great options for those who enjoy running. If you are a marathoner, Puerto Rico is definitely a great place to visit. There are an incredible amount of races and marathons that take place every year in Puerto Rico, with the SanBlas Marathon held in Coamo being the most important. There are 5 other big marathons that are held in Puerto Rico including the Modesto Carrion and the La Guadalupe which hosts thousands of participants every year. Puerto Rico’s tropical climate makes it a great place to run, so if you think you’re up to it start training.

If you are a fan of the more extreme sporting events, Puerto Rico offers great opportunities as well. Things like canyoning and rappelling are all readily available in Puerto Rico, as is caving in the popular El Yunque rainforest. There are also many mountains and rivers to explore in Puerto Rico’s tropical terrain, and with the help of some knowledgeable tour guides, you will have no shortage of activities during your stay in Puerto Rico. So if you’re a fan of extreme thrills, Puerto Rico has definitely got you covered.

So the next time you are looking for a great place to be active, consider Puerto Rico for your next vacation. It isn’t all just beaches and sun (though it has that), but there are plenty of great activities for those who lead active lifestyles and want to kick their vacation up a notch.
