Tamarindo Beach

Tamarindo Beach
February 27th, 2015

Tamarindo Beach is arguably the most popular beach in Tamarindo, and it’s a good match. After all, the very funky bohemian vibe of Tamarindo Beach seems very appropriate for the town’s laidback atmosphere. This isn’t a local town with an authentic Costa Rica feel. Instead, it’s a fun town devoted to the needs of tourists, and sometimes that’s a good thing. That’s because it’s very hard to get bored here.

The Beach

The Tamarindo Beach is wonderful in many ways, but for surfers it’s a great spot to hang out. Not only do you get modern conveniences coupled with charming views, but you also get the perfect surfing conditions. You have offshore winds and consistent swells all throughout the year so surfing isn’t just a seasonal activity.

And you don’t even need to be a good surfer at all. In fact, you can take advantage of the surfer schools they have around here, so you can learn and hopefully become addicted to surfing.

But for those who like to swim instead, you’ll love it here too. There’s a huge spot reserved for swimming, and you may find swimming instructors here as well.

If you just want to take a walk, you’re also going to love the size of the beach. It feels like you can walk for miles and miles…

When you want to take a rest from all that walking and just go sight-seeing or people-watching on the beach, you can do that too – in style. You can rent chairs, have your drinks delivered to your spot, and lots of pedestrian vendors are around politely offering their goodies and other items which include crafts and even jewelry. They’re also very nice, and won’t pressure you into buying.

The Town

What’s really great about the beach is that the entire town seems like an extension of it. The town atmosphere is also quite fun. Even along the beach you can find lots of bars and restaurants to satisfy your cravings and hunger, and they serve international dishes.

Then when you go into the town and explore, you will find that there are even more restaurants and bars, along with numerous shops for souvenirs. A lot of adventure agencies are also here ready to offer whatever exhilarating daredevil activity that can tickle your fancy.

Tamarindo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica is easy enough to find if you’re from the US or Europe. It’s just an hour-long drive from the Liberia international airport.

Once you get there, you have a wide range of options when it comes to your lodgings. Some are specifically for the moneyed, but those on a budget can find reasonable accommodations as well.

Tamarindo Beach is one of the top 10 beaches in Costa Rica, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s simply a fun place for relaxation, and the amenities are more than sufficient.
