The Best Helicopter Tours In Puerto Rico

puerto rico helicopter tour
September 6th, 2014

Sometimes it’s best to see the sights from up in the air. This is especially true when you’re in Puerto Rico, where the sights can truly take your breath away. You can appreciate the magnificence of Old San Juan, be awed by the endless expanse of water, or get to see the mountains and valleys that other mortals can’t access. Let the hikers trudge up and down the paths of Puerto Rico. For a while you can be above it all.
1. Vertical Solutions. While Vertical Solutions offer Charter flights and can even give you helicopter flight lessons, as a tour company it is unmatched. Why else would it get plenty of customer reviews from Trip Advisor and get “excellent” ratings from each one of them?
As a customer you have several options to choose from. You can go on a City tour and see the Old San Juan from up high and of the Bacardi Rum Factory while you also get a bird’s eye view of the lagoon areas and of the Condado beach. It also coincides with the sunset for a more romantic touch.
In the Mountain Tour, you add the unforgettable sights of the central mountains, the awesome cliffs, the serene mountain lakes, and the breathtaking waterfalls in the San Cristobal canyon. There’s also a Radar tour that combines natural sights with manmade marvels, while the Coastal Tour is a ride along the picturesque North Shore.
You can of course ask to customize the tour to fly over other parts of the areas you want. What adds to the fun is that the pilot is a true travel guide, who knows all the facts and trivia that makes the tour even more intriguing.
2. Puerto Rico Helitours. Also based in San Juan, Helitours offers a wonderful alternative to hiking and water activities as well. The Borinquen Shore Tour is 12 minutes of super sightseeing, as you fly from Isla Grande Airport over the shore and hotel areas up to the tourist zone in Isla Verde.
In the San Cristobal tour, the destination is Barranquitas so that the majesty of San Cristobal Canyon can truly be appreciated. The Made in Puerto Rico tour offers a view of Old San Juan as well as of monuments that define the country. The 787 to the Sky Tour is the longest tour of them all at half an hour, and it flies over the tourist areas of San Juan, Bayamón, Naranjito, and Cataño.
3. San Cristobal Cañon Helicopter Tour. Here, the half-hour tour offers exquisite views of San Juan and then it turns toward the mountains until you fly over the top of Cordillera Central, which is the highest point in the whole country. The flight includes a visit to San Cristobal Canyon. You really need to bring a camera for this trip, just so you can prove that you didn’t imagine the awesome sights.
4. Dragonfly Adventures. Here they offer a tour of Old San Juan and the metropolitan area (2 and a half hours), while another tour gives you a thrilling ride over the east coast and of El Yunque Rainforest (an hour and a half).
